Maintaining Hardwood Floors

If you're new to hardwood floors then you might want to do a little research before you decide to clean your floors with just anything. Hardwood floors might seem durable but if you want them to stay looking great there is a little more effort that must go into their maintenance. Your floors won't cost you too much money to upkeep, but if you really want them shine you'll need to follow a routine cleaning schedule.

Hardwood floors actually require a little daily maintenance if you want them to look nice for longer. These floors show off the dust that build up fairly easily so it is important that you make sure to dust them every day. This will keep your home looking spectacular and will prevent allergies and other problems related to the hygiene of your home. You can dust your floor with a dry mop or try a microfiber cloth that picks up dust.

Your floors should be mopped once a week, but this process can be a bit more difficult than mopping a tiled floor. Most cleaners, especially those with vinegar are much too harsh for hardwood floors. Too much water can actually really damage the quality of your floors too. The best thing you can do is dampen a microfiber cloth and go over your floors.

Every three months you should polish your floors to keep them look amazing. The polish is one of the most important parts of polishing though. You should always choose a polish that is water based so that your floor can look their best without you having to worry about waxy buildups. This will also keep your floors cleaner, so you don't have to worry about allergens in the home.

Hardwood floors are one of the best appeals of the home, so make sure you keep them looking great so you can enjoy them for longer. With these easy cleaning tips you can have the floors of your dreams without going to great lengths to keep them looking incredible.
